My friends and I always joke about getting totally decked out in the most dark, morbid and eerie fashions that we sell and have a picnic in the cemetery on the first nice day of summer, drinking a little Merlot and listening to Bauhaus while the secret sunlovers of Portland dress up in easter egg colored tank tops for the annual fashion show. Anyhow, if you share my vision, you should check out our New products at the Gothstore!
Most notably, we’ve added new jewelry to our collection including new rings and earrings. We’ve also created a new Joy Division design which will be arriving in the next week, so for all of you Curtis fans, be on the lookout. Speaking of Joy Division, they have been getting quite the press lately, with the film “Control” and a new documentary out. It has spawned quite a following for the frontrunners of the cathartic 1980’s dark pop, especially here in the office.
I highly recommend an older film about the band, 24 Hour Party People is an amazing profile of the Manchester music scene from Joy Division’s beginnings to the rise and fall of Factory Records.
And in reverence, here’s very young Bernard Sumner playing what would have been the first US tour for Joy Division as New Order in NYC, 1981.

Coming Out Of The Coffin

I love Portland! Even in June, it’s still 50 degrees, cold, dark and raining. It keeps us pale and pretty somber, which hopefully translates well into our new Inventory. We’ve added some fun new goodies to the belfry, including several Boots, Earrings and Shirts.
In other news, everyone’s favorite cartoon Death Metal Band Dethklok just animated their way through Portland while on a US tour. A couple of my friends made their way into the show and suffered twisted ankles and overall bruising…pretty extreme for an animated band! Yikes. If that’s too intense (which it is for me) Check out Seattle’s Noc Noc Club which spins dark dance (Skinny Puppy, Depeche Mode, Front 242 etc.) music on Saturday (5.00 cover) and Sunday (3.00 cover)
In art news, check out Northwest Artist Garret Price who works with acid on steel, making some amazing works. Price is also an awesome DJ with a killer collection of Funeral/Doom/Black Metal that he spins on PRA Radio, check out his playlists Here
And your visual treat for this week, a little live Skinny Puppy (which is absolutely wild)

These items, as well as a host of new Celtic inspired jewelery can be found under our new products page
In other eerie news, the feature film Twilight is being filmed here in Portland, Oregon. Based on Stephanie Meyer’s Vampire fiction, this flick is set to come out in the coming year. Look out for the Gothstore Warehouse in the background.
In other movie news, Sam Dunn’s second feature flick is upon us. Branching off from his original Documentary, Metal, A Headbangers Journey his new film, Global Metal explores dark and heavy music around the world. Check out the trailer below.
See you in the cemetery,

Greetings from the dark, cold crypt that is my office. This week in all things eerie, we have added several new products to our cache. Check out our new gothic Thongs and our newest dark dress the Anne Boelyn
In other strange news, a customer emailed us about a Gothic Cruise ShipThere’s nothing darker than sailing the Caribbean in early fall.
One of my favorite photographers, Deborah Turbeville has some great works on her website, if you have a chance, check them out. Her book Studio St. Petersburg contains dark, beautiful photographs of Russia’s abandoned mansions, streets and people. Amazon usually has it at a great price, for such an oversized photo book.
And this weeks rad music video care of Isis, from the newest album
New Joy Division Shirts, Etc.

Hello All,
Our new designs are finally in and available on our site. We’ve made some custom Joy Division shirts, available as tank tops, t-shirts, hoodies and baby doll tees. Check them out here.
If you like vampires, 30 Days of Night was the darkest, bloody vampire movie I’ve seen. Check it out, it’s based off of Steve Niles’ graphic novel of the same name, and features some stunning artwork.
The launching of these shirts demands some classic footage, here’s Joy Division playing Transmission in late ’79.
